How do I become a member of A Life After Trauma?

We take the privacy and safety of your group very seriously so each member of A Life After Trauma must fill out a form to be considered.  If you wish to join the Warrior Wisdom call or the Book Club click here to apply!

What are you doing to make these groups safe?

A Life After Trauma has a closed group on Facebook but the Warrior Wisdom group and the Book Club take place over Zoom only.  The only way to get the links to the calls is to join as a member of one or both of these groups.  All the information about the calls and our discussions are on select pages on this site, and those pages are only visible to those who are members.

The public CAN SEE general information about the groups but CANNOT SEE who is in the group or what we post.

You MUST be a member of the A Life After Trauma group AND have a username and password to access these pages.  These groups are a safe place because they don’t happen on social media and require a working username and password to get in.

Are these groups run by a therapist?

No.  These groups are run by Lizabeth Casada who experienced childhood sexual abuse and learned how to cope because of Dissociative Identity Disorder (D.I.D.).  While Lizabeth is a Certified Professional Coach and Master Prosperity Teacher, she hosts and runs these groups as a peer coached community.  She believes that we all have internal guidance system and wisdom gained from lived experienced that when shared, can help us all keeping moving forward on our healing journeys.  Lizabeth shares openly about her D.I.D. on social media and speaks about her experience each year at the Healing Together D.I.D. conference each year in Orlando, Florida.

Do these groups replace my therapy?

No.  These groups are meant to enhance your therapy!  These groups are not the place to process the trauma that you have been through.  A Life After Trauma groups are peer run communities where we can begin to understand and  work through the beliefs and every day challenges that keep us stuck in the trauma.

Can my therapist join with me?

While we have several members who are therapists, they are in the group doing their own work.  We take the privacy and security of our members very seriously so we work hard to make sure that each member is doing the work they desire to do for themselves not each other.  We are a peer group and don’t practice therapy in these groups.

Can I invite a friend to join?

Yes!  We would love for you to invite a friend or a lot of friends!  Because we take security and privacy very seriously, each of your friends will have to fill out the ALAT membership form to apply for membership.

How much does it cost to join the Warrior Wisdom group?

It’s FREE!

How much does it cost to join the Book Club?

Membership to the Book Club is FREE but you will need to purchase your own copy of the book we are reading.  The books can be bought used or new at Amazon or most book stores.  A Life After Trauma does have generous donors that occasionally offer to purchase a book for members who really want to study with us but are having a tough time.  So if you are a member and really want to join us, don’t let not having a book keep you from it!

You've already started a book. Can I still join the Book Club?

Yes!  You don’t have to start at the beginning of the book and you don’t have to hurry up and read it to join us.  We take our time going through each chapter and most members get something useful out of each call.  You’ll have time to read what you missed and you are welcome to ask questions about it.

I don't know if I'm ready to join a call yet. Do you have a group that isn't on Zoom?

Yes!  A Life After Trauma has a public page on Facebook for those who just want some positive inspiration

AND

a closed group for those who are ready for more interaction.  (Please note that you have to answer all four questions to be considered for membership to the closed group)

Once you’re ready to really work on the challenges that are keeping you stuck, we invite you to join us for the Warrior Wisdom or Book Club calls.

What kind of topics are discussed in the Warrior Wisdom group?

The topics vary widely!  Some topics are suggested by group members but most of the time, Lizabeth comes up with great topics like:

  • Change Your Story
  • C.A.R.I.N.G. for Yourself
  • Dealing with Clutter….and more!

Can I still join the calls if I'm uncomfortable being seen on camera?

Yes!  You do not have to have your camera on if you are nervous about it.  Some of our members choose to join the calls without their camera on but most choose to turn it on after they experience the safe space we have created together.  We do encourage you to participate fully so you get the most out of being in the group but taking care of yourself is the highest priority.

What if I am uncomfortable speaking in a group? Can I still join?

You can still join us even if you are uncomfortable speaking in a group!  Some of our new members choose to join the calls and hang out for a week or two but most choose to speak after they experience the safe space we have created together.  We do encourage you to participate fully so you get the most out of being in the group but taking care of yourself is the highest priority.  Lizabeth may ask if you’d like to add something but it is not a requirement and she doesn’t make you feel bad if you don’t want to.
